**Youth Programming**

Asé Arts offers **dynamic visual art experiences** for **young creators** through **6–10 week Youth Art Classes** and **week-long Summer Camps** held throughout the **Bay Area**. Our programs foster **skill development** and **creative exploration**.

**Adult Programming**

Asé Arts offers **1–2 day workshops** designed for **adults of all skill levels**. These **hands-on sessions** foster **artistic exploration**, **personal expression**, and **community connection**.

: : Foundation In Drawing : : Our class has been learning about the Maasai people. Inspired by the Morani also known as ilmurran, young men between the ages of 18-30 selected become trained warriors. Protecting the herds and their people. Link in BiO A diptych ‘Transmissions’ explores water as a transmitter of memory, culture, and ancestral knowledge. Depicting wave forms as transmitters carried by the movement of tides, migration, and transformation. The work honors water’s sacred role in healing and storytelling, inviting reflection on how we carry, absorb, and transmute passing on histories through the body and across generations.

Exhibiting new indigo work in this up coming show. “Water” an exhibition that celebrates the mutable nature of water as an idea and a medium. Water is changeable as the seasons and as our emotions, providing a symbol for transformation and change, nourishment, emotion, and the divine. Still waters run deep, yet in creative work, “being in the flow” is a moment of connection and transcendent making, evoking the sense of nature allowed to move abundantly unimpeded.

Closing out Black History Month with a newly transitioned ancestor Faith Ringgold was born in 1930 on the heels of the Harlem Renisance. She was deeply influenced by the explosion of Black artistic, literary, and cultural expression that surrounded her in her formative years. Growing up in Harlem, she witnessed firsthand the power of art as a tool for storytelling, activism, and cultural preservation, a theme that remained central to her work throughout her career. A lifelong arts educator and activist, Ringgold carved out space in the New York art scene, challenging exclusionary institutions and earning her place in galleries and museums. While primarily a painter, she became widely known for her story quilts, a tradition deeply rooted in African American folk art. At a time when quilting was undervalued and had never been exhibited in a major New York museum, Ringgold’s work shattered boundaries, ensuring her narrative was seen, heard, and honored. Faith Ringgold embodied the spirit of the Harlem Renaissance, proving that art is not just a reflection of the times—it is a catalyst for change. Her influence continues to inspire generations of artists, educators, and changemakers. She is a wonderful figure to lead us into women’s history month.

Exploring Gelli Prints Workshop

Loved the time spent with Nichole in her perfect art space on Broadway! She had snacks and drinks ready for us when we arrived and we spent our time quickly learning about the process and then jumped in to start experimenting. Nichole was a great teacher and encouraged us to explore colors, layers, and textures. It was a lovely way to spend time with a friend while in a relaxing, creative environment. We would definitely do it again.
