The Power of Nature
The Power of Nature is a four-part series exploring the elements—earth, wind, water, and fire—through the Orixas, divine energies from the Yoruba tradition of Ifá. These deities, brought to the Americas through the transatlantic slave trade, are honored in spiritual practices like Santería, Candomblé, Vodou, and Hoodoo. In this series, the Orixas are portrayed as human-like representations of natural forces and spiritual truths. This installment centers on Yemọja, Goddess of the Ocean and mother of all Orixas, whose presence is reflected in three pieces that capture her
